OT...why are there A$$holes in this world?

At 55. I have paid my dues. Worked my butt off to pay off the house and car. Finally saved enough money to work on my house. Haven't drag raced in 2 years, haven't splurged on any more Altec equip.
For the last 3 weeks I've had new Milgard windows installed, a new garage door installed, new gutters and this week new hardy plank siding. My house was kind of falling apart on the exterior.
I've gotten great deals..the installers need the cash, I'm fortunate enough to have saved a bit to do this work. I've always been a car and Altec guy.

Tonight I get up to go to the can for a whiz, and some asshole tries to throw a rock though my new picture window. What is up with that?

I live in a nice neighborhood, but bordered by a large apt complex. Way too many strange folks walking by.

It is tempered glass, and was a glancing blow, but oh how would I have love to have caught him. Left a nice scuff though.

I'm just agrivated at where our society has gone....maybe I need a gun.

Very sad indeed.

I think most of us around your vintage (& I include myself) feel that things have gotten a bit out of hand and it's not just because we're the older generation.

Hard to know where it's all going to end.

Probably more to this story, maybe some misguided reason motivating the rock wielder to pick your house for vandalism. along the lines of," Yeah, that guy in the green house, he's the one that_______". The vandal may have targeted the wrong house.

The scuff may be removed from the glass. There are polishes and techniques for removing them. I've dabbled just a bit into it and the results have been so-so. I hope you can get it done, easily.

I'm with you on the situation, I've had similar. The night after I planted 35 shrubs along the street some little a-hole thought it would be cute to pull a couple out. I called the law since I didn't want the rest to suffer the same fate and assumed that the local PD could drive by in the wee hours to guard my property. I was told that even if they found the kid actually perpetrating vandalism, he would be driven home unless there was a weapon involved. When I was a juvenile, the situation would have been handled differently, the threat of that direct intervention dissuaded most of us to keep on the right path.

Yeah that sucks, but I don't think things have gotten worse. Kids were petty awful 40 years ago too. (Not me of course, I was always an angel.)

Speaking of gutters and A-holes. We are also doing a lot of work on our house, it needs it. Other day a young guy knocks on the door selling gutters. OK, I'm up for an estimate, we need 'em! Salesman comes out the next day and gives us what most have been the longest gutter sales pitch in history. Over 2 hours! Final price to do our house? $8,820. :laffingassoff: For gutters? I don't live in a castle.

$8820 for gutters? Geez, mine were $780....did the whole house, gutters, siding, windows and a garage door for $13K.
And this all started with a knock on the door!
Those must have been gold plated gutters.......

pano...2 bucks a ft seemless installed is the going price around here, that was two yrs ago, so maybe 3 now.
in todays society lets put more blame on the apathy of the parents, shall we
be advised..guns are like speakers, one day you look up and the house is full of them, a highly addictive hobby

Be aware guys a lot of those people that knock on your door are Con Artists.Well in my area anyway. As I don't have a gutter bending machine(Seamless) I had them done on my house about 7 years ago and was $700 and if i wanted to add the gutter/guard or helmet it doubled the price.

@ RON be very vigilante, my concern is that since the window did NOT break, there maybe a repeat from that Idiot.
